Welcome to Web Development I

The main purpose of this class is to teach you how to create pages that can convey information through a web browser. We are also going to discuss other skills like the ability to find information in a manual, how to present yourself for a job interview, and how to think creatively to solve problems.

We are going to cover a lot of ground in this class, including

  • HTML & XHTML for web pages
  • An overview of multimedia and scripting
  • Professional presentations using web pages

All of the notes and assignments for the class are available at this site. There is a navigational menu on the left of the page that will help you move through the site and access each part of the lecture. To select subject material, click on the section name on the left and a submenu will appear. These are the names of the components of the lectures for that topic. Click on each of the topics to see the notes.

You can submit your work to me via email. Just post your assignments on your web space and send me the URL to see it. Or, you can put your assignments on floppies or CDs and slide them under my office door.

First, a little housekeeping...

  • NIACC IST Professionalism Statement

You must read, sign, and return the NIACCIST Professionalism Form in each class in the IT department. This forms describes the rules and expectations for behavior and computer usage.

  • Pretest

This just takes a minute. It is designed to see where you are starting from so that, at the end of the term, we can determine how far you have come and how well we did.
