Accounting

Many small- to medium-size businesses need employees who can do multiple tasks. The Accounting Specialization provides ooportunities for students to pursue employment in those samll- to medium-size companies utilizing both their accounting and computer skills.

Graduates have the opportunity of abtaining employment using their computer/accounting skills or transferring to a four-year institution and receiving a baccalaureate degree. Some job opportunities are listed below:

  • Bookkeeper
  • Computer Accounting Clerk
  • Payroll Clerk
  • Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable Clerk
  • Help Desk

Successful graduates of the Cyber Security specialization will be able to

  • identify, select, and employ the correct software applications to solve business information problems, i.e. using a database for inventory rather than word processing,
  • perform payroll and computer accounting procedures,
  • install new hardware and/or replacement components,
  • investigate, identify and implement solutions for hardware and software issues,
  • install operating systems, drivers, applications, and updates, and
  • implement systems to identify, remove, and prevent viruses, Trojans, worms, and spy ware using available software.
